Slow Tide: A Coastal Holiday Home in Bude, Cornwall

Just a short walk from Crooklets Beach, Slow Tide is the kind of holiday home that reveals more of itself as you move through it.

From its generous open-plan living spaces and warm wood-burning stove to a dedicated cinema room, three bedrooms and a south-facing garden, there's a lot here for a guest to discover. The challenge photographically wasn't simply to document each of those spaces, but to bring them together into one consistent story.

Photographing space rather than simply rooms

One of Slow Tide's strongest characteristics is its sense of space.

The main living, kitchen and dining areas flow naturally into one another, with different spaces for gathering, relaxing and eating without feeling disconnected. The property is deceptively spacious, with the open-plan living area forming the heart of the house.

Creating imagery with longevity

One of the aims with Slow Tide was also to create a varied enough collection of images that the photography could work beyond the initial accommodation listing.

Wide architectural photographs establish layout and scale. Closer details add warmth and personality. Lifestyle-led images give the property a sense of use, while exterior and aerial imagery places the house within its wider Cornish setting.

Together, they create a library that can work across booking platforms, the property's own marketing, social media and future seasonal campaigns rather than simply filling a gallery once.

For me, that's an increasingly important part of photographing holiday accommodation.

The objective isn't simply to make a property look attractive.

It's to give somebody enough visual information — and enough of a feeling — that they can begin imagining themselves there.
